About the artist
Born in 1978 in the Ivory Coast, Myriam grew up in Germany before moving to Switzerland. A married, mother of 4 children, she is a self-taught artist. She has been painting and writing since childhood and her creativity has been nourished and influenced by African art, street art, galleries and museums she has visited.
Her work illustrates her deep relationship and passion for literature and spirituality.
Myriam aims to represent multiple heritage that each of us carries within us, both culturally and ancestrally. She highlights beliefs that have nurtured and nourished her, but also stories, texts and values shared with her from childhood.
Her series "Connection" illustrates bonds we share and thoughts we project onto the world around us. According to her, we are connected to each other, and beams depicted illustrate not only these connections, but also a kind of positive visualization, mental imagery and introspection.
One of the world's eldest divinatory arts, practiced in part of Africa, involves reading the future in cowrie shells, which Myriam uses to represent the mystical part of each of us
