Le travail d’Alexis Peskine explore les complexités de l'identité afro-descendante, dans un domaine où se croisent spiritualité, mémoire historique et conscience collective. Connu pour ses portraits emblématiques d'afro-descendant·e·s à grande échelle, réalisés à l'aide de clous enfoncés avec une précision extrême dans du bois, teinté au café, aux feuilles, aux fleurs ou à la boue, l’artiste a développé une technique unique qu’il a su pérenniser et faire évoluer à travers le temps. Dans OURO VERDE, il explore le domaine de la guérison à travers les traditions ancestrales (notamment le Candomblé de sa famille maternelle) en intégrant de la terre et des plantes autochtones suisses aux vertus thérapeutiques pour teinter les oeuvres, soulignant ainsi des similitudes inattendues entre les pratiques de guérison traditionnelles africaines et européennes. Cette présentation lors de la foire MIRA a une résonance toute particulière, car en plus de prendre place dans la ville natale de l’artiste, elle rend hommage à sa double culture afro-brésilienne, le Brésil étant le pays mis à l’honneur cette année 2025. Cette symbolique est d’autant plus forte qu’elle offre l’opportunité de dévoiler en exclusivité une partie de cette collection en France, avant son départ pour la Suisse.

Alexis Peskine's work explores the complexities of African heritage identity, in a field where spirituality, historical memory and collective consciousness intersect. Known for his iconic large-scale portraits of people of African descent, created using nails hammered with extreme precision into wood stained with coffee, leaves, flowers or mud, the artist has developed a unique technique that he has sustained and evolved over time. In OURO VERDE, he explores the field of healing through ancestral traditions (notably the Candomblé of his maternal family) by incorporating Swiss indigenous earth and plants with therapeutic properties to stain the works, thus highlighting unexpected similarities between traditional African and European healing practices. This preview during MIRA art fair has a special significance, as not only is it taking place in the artist's hometown, but it also pays tribute to his dual Afro-Brazilian culture, with Brazil being the country of honour in 2025. This symbolism is all the more powerful as it offers the opportunity to unveil part of this collection exclusively in France before it leaves for Switzerland.
