Martin Abega
Martin ABEGA is a Cameroonian visual artist based in France. Photography is the starting point of his practice. With a longstanding interest in fashion, portraiture and beauty photography, he approaches the image as a way of writing with light and engaging with the world around him.
Over time, his practice has expanded to embrace textile, embroidery, painting, charcoal and direct interventions onto the image. These different mediums extend his relationship with photography, allowing the image to take on new forms and exist beyond its original frame.
His work explores questions of identity, spirituality and the forces that shape us at our core. He develops an ever-evolving practice, driven by experimentation and a desire to remain closely connected to what moves and inspires him.
His work has been presented in Ivory Coast, France and Belgium. In 2026, he published Ancestral & Contemporary, a book conceived as an extension of this ongoing exploration.

Martin ABEGA est un artiste visuel camerounais basé en France. La photographie est le point de départ de sa pratique. Passionné de mode, de portrait et de photographie de beauté, il considère l’image comme une manière d’écrire avec la lumière et d’entrer en relation avec le monde qui l’entoure. Au fil temps, sa pratique s’est ouverte au textile, à la broderie, à la peinture, au charbon et à l’intervention directe sur l’image. Ces différents médiums prolongent son rapport à la photographie et lui permettent de la faire vivre autrement.
Son travail s’inscrit dans une recherche autour de l’identité, de la spiritualité et de ce qui construit profondément un être humain. Il développe une pratique en constante évolution, guidée par l’expérimentation et le désir de rester au plus près de ce qui l’anime. Son travail a été présenté en Côte d’Ivoire, en France et en Belgique. En 2026, il publie Ancestral & Contemporain, un livre conçu comme une extension de cette recherche.
