Alexis Peskine’s work centres on questions of identity. Of Afro-Brazilian and Russian heritage, he draws on this dual lineage to reflect on the Black experience in its many forms. Constantly travelling, he approaches his practice as an ongoing investigation and hopes to complete artist residencies across all fifty-four countries of the African continent. His signature works are large mixed-media portraits of the African diaspora, created by hammering nails of varying sizes into wood stained with hibiscus, curcuma and indigo. By applying gold, silver and palladium leaf to the nail heads, he produces powerful images that recall the Minkisi “power figures” of the Congo Basin. In Ouro Verde, developed in collaboration with FILAFRIQUES, Peskine explores healing practices rooted in ancestral traditions, particularly the Candomblé of his maternal family. Using Swiss earth and plants with therapeutic properties to stain the works, he highlights unexpected parallels between African and European healing knowledge.

D'origine afro-brésilienne et russe, il s'inspire de cette double ascendance pour réfléchir à l'expérience noire sous ses multiples formes. Voyageant sans cesse, il aborde sa pratique comme une recherche permanente et espère réaliser des résidences d'artiste dans les cinquante-quatre pays du continent africain. Ses œuvres emblématiques sont de grands portraits mixtes de la diaspora africaine, créés en enfonçant des clous de différentes tailles dans du bois teinté à l'hibiscus, au curcuma et à l'indigo. En appliquant des feuilles d'or, d'argent et de palladium sur les têtes de clous, il produit des images puissantes qui rappellent les « figures de pouvoir » Minkisi du bassin du Congo. Dans Ouro Verde, développé en collaboration avec FILAFRIQUES, Peskine explore les pratiques de guérison ancrées dans les traditions ancestrales, en particulier le candomblé de sa famille maternelle. En utilisant de la terre et des plantes suisses aux propriétés thérapeutiques pour teindre ses œuvres, il met en évidence des parallèles inattendus entre les connaissances africaines et européennes en matière de guérison.

Reggie Khumalo is a South African fine artist and motorbike adventurer whose artistic journey is deeply intertwined with his passion for philanthropy. In 2017, he embarked on a transformative odyssey from Cape Town to Cairo, seeking to explore the essence of his creativity while spreading Ubuntu and supporting underprivileged children's education across Africa.His encounters with the kindness of strangers, the resilience of women, and the struggles of children profoundly shape his artistic vision. Upon returning, Khumalo translates these experiences into vibrant, intimate portraits that reflect his deep reverence for African culture and storytelling.Khumalo has exhibited at 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in Marrakech (2023) New York (2024, 2025) London (2024,2025). He has partnered with various organisations to fund educational and humanitarian projects across Africa and is the founder of Residency Ubuntu, an art residency in Tanzania.

Il s'est associé à diverses organisations pour financer des projets éducatifs et humanitaires à travers l'Afrique et est le fondateur de Residency Ubuntu, une résidence artistique en Tanzanie.
